Liverpool Transfer News; who do we need?
The
January transfer window has opened and Liverpool are currently sitting 8th in the Barclays Premier League, but the worrying thing is we are not
coping after Suarez’s departure in the summer. Being the 9th richest
club in the world, we have to start spending wisely and despite its importance
we have to stop buying young players for a while! I will be taking about who we actually need
and who has to go.
Firstly,
Liverpool’s defence is toothless therefore has cost us many games and to make
matters worse we seem to have one of the worst keepers in the BPL! Before the
season began we knew our defence was a problem but last season it was covered
up by the amount of goals we scored. In the summer we signed, who we thought was to be our “leader”, Dejan Lovren for an approximated £20,000,000. Since he arrived
all he has done is cause even more catastrophes! But in fairness he not the
only one to blame, our back 3 does not work at all with both Skrtel and Sakho
always making errors, despite this I am most annoyed at letting Daniel Agger go
who was probably our most senior and professional centre-back Liverpool had. Last
year we managed to concede 50 goals but this
year we are on course to let in 57 goals. Like most Liverpool fans I am hoping we buy a rock
solid centre-back such as Mats Hummels but a cheaper option may be to buy
Mauricio Isla who is currently at QPR. The biggest regret Rodgers has made has
to be letting Reina go and allowing Brad Jones and Simon MIgnolet to stay!
Rodgers should try to bring in Asmir Begovic as Mignolet has no competition.
Secondly, our attack is not good
enough we are relying on Sterling who is 19 years old to play up front with
very little experience compared to other strikers. But he is not the only
culprit, our midfield does not score enough goals despite having superb players
with great quality. Our top scorer is Steven Gerrard with only 9 goals compared to Aguero’s 14, we cannot rely on
Gerrard all the time and especially because he is leaving at the end of the
season. But the most worrying stat is that we have only had 32% of our shots on target but to make matter worse
only 10% of those have actually gone in. Also,
Fabio Borini has to go he is just not good enough for a club like Liverpool and
he is just too far down the pecking order with the likes of Daniel Sturridge and
Raheem Sterling in the mix. But Borini is not the only one who has to prove
himself, Ballotelli also has to do something there is no doubt he has quality
but it is whether he uses it or not but being a Liverpool fan I will stick with
him. With our current goal scoring situation we need o sign a striker who has
proved himself in the Premier League such as Charlie Austin. Finally, this
season has been a series of ups and downs for example Daniel Sturridge’s
injuries to major cup success. We will not win the title but we are definitely
in contention for a Champions league place as we are starting to gain some form.
This is a really good, yet interesting blog that is detailed and fun to read, keep it up!!
